Do You Have A Project We Can Help With?
JN Bentley Saltaire Towpath Project
In collaboration with JN Bentley, CalderC.A.D. recently completed a comprehensive towpath surfacing project. This project, located along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, involved meticulous planning and execution to enhance the path’s durability and usability.
The project began with an in-depth site analysis, followed by the removal of any degraded materials and the stabilization of the underlying structure. CalderC.A.D. adapted to this project’s unique terrain implementing specific assessment and reinforcement of the towpath to ensure suitability for plant access. The team could then apply an initial 50mm thick layer of tarmac, followed by a layer tack coat and finalised by a 25mm thick layer of tarmac. This process ensures the durability of the towpath.
Key to the project’s success was CalderC.A.D.’s commitment to minimising disruption to the local community and environment. In conjunction with waterway staff and Regional Engineering managers the team implemented eco-friendly practices. The enhanced towpath now provides a safer, more enjoyable experience for walkers, cyclists, and other users.
